I didn’t try a huge amount of new beauty products in 2014 but there were a few new favorites that I found. Oil-products were something that I fell greatly in love with. I used to have an oily skin and really struggle with it. Since it calmed down a couple of years ago and “turned” into a normal skin type, I never thought that I would be using oils on my face. But oils make skin (and hair) soft and moisturized and that suits me more than well.
Anyway, the following products aren’t generally new and might have been around for awhile. Nonetheless I’ve been loving them in 2014 and I will continue using them until… I find something better ;P
Yves Rocher Apricot scrub is a botanical scrub for body. The kernels (apricot kernel powder) are quite big and feel like they are really exfoliating. The scent is pretty amazing and reminds me of cardamom. It really leaves the skin clean and soft and also moisturized thanks to the Agave sap.
Lumene’s Deep-Cleansing Peat Mask has been one of my favorites for years now. It does an incredible job on cleansing my face. I can feel it tingling on my skin and really feel it absorbing impurities. I also happen to love the scent of it although I know peat isn’t for everyone.
I love the taste of Goji berries so of course I had to buy this Hydration mask by Freeman. It has a nice mild scent that you’ll be happy to sniff before rinsing it off. The mask is very creamy almost gel-like and it’s really easy to apply. After rinsing the skin feels soft, smooth and light.
I usually use my Argan Skincare Rejuvenating fluid when I want that extra moisture after exfoliating or when my skin is feeling dry otherwise (also because it’s not the cheapest I don’t use it daily). It is very rich and light and has argan oil in it so it really makes the skin feel soft and moist.
Nuxe Huile Prodigiuese- dry oil is one of the best I’ve tried. It is a multipurpose oil but I only apply it on my face and haven’t tried it on my hair. It is light and absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave an oily or greasy feeling. I mostly used it during the warmer months of summer and fall but now during winter I use thicker face creams (the (freezing) cold temperatures make my skin extra dry). I like to apply it before going to bed so it has the whole night to work its magic ;)
This is the one product that I was kind of hesitant to put on this list, because I don’t like the scent of it. Emma Noël beauté Rosehip oil- is 100% organic with virgin (Chilean) rose hip oil. I have used it on my face and neck not hair. It’s not as moisturizing as the Nuxe and doesn’t absorb as fast but does a good job nourishing. Rosehip oil can also be used as scar treatment and I feel like it has balanced and corrected my skin tone (after years of my face breaking out I think it has improved my skin texture (been using it for about 6 months)).
Syoss Absolut Oil- is quite thick but easy to apply. A little goes a long way. It makes hair soft and nourished but not sticky or greasy. I’ve been using it as hair mask on the ends of my hair a few hours (or apply it the night before) before washing my hair or afterwards to give moisture and shine.
Klippoteket Styling Dust Spray is my favorite dry shampoo so far. It gives nice volume and is easy to work with. It brushes and washes out easily and has a good scent. And it’s very affordable ! Only downside is that it’s white and if you put too much (especially on dark hair) you can see some white residue, so make sure to brush away all the excess.
I honestly don’t know what I did with my hair before Tangle Teezer ! I’ve been using it for over a year and it makes hair brushing a lot easier for real. I hadn’t even realized but recently I had to use a random basic hair brush and that’s when it really hit me how good the Tangle Teezer is. It’s not magic and your hair won’t detangle in a blink of an eye, but it really makes a huge difference. I’ve always been kind of rough when it comes to brushing my hair but with the promise the Tangle Teezer-people give “can help to reduce breakages, split ends and damage” I hope my hair is now stronger and healthier :p
Lumene Color Correcting Cream- when you want a light but covering foundation. It’s for all skin types and I like to use it especially during winter when the skin is dry and can’t handle many products. It’s easy to apply and lasts all day.
Rimmel’s Wake Me Up shimmer touch- gives a nice glow to everyday make-up. I like to blend it with my foundation but you can also apply it where ever you want the shimmer. It’s really settle and you won’t end up looking like a disco ball even if you put it on with the foundation. It’s lightweight and gives your make-up a nice radiant look. Loove love !
I’ve had my GOSH bronzer for quite a while for it is pretty huge. It has shimmer in it so I don’t use it for contouring. It’s perfect when you have a little tan. Just swipe a little on the cheeks and you have a beautiful glow that’ll last all day.
Last but certainly not least, my all time favorite mascara: Sensai (Kanebo) 38’c Volumizing mascara. I’ve been using it for years and it never let’s me down. I’ve tried mascaras but nothing compares and these days I rarely even buy any other mascaras. It makes my eye lashes long and gives an amazing volume. Also the fact that it doesn’t smudge as it’s waterproof aka you wash/take it off with +38 celsius water (I know not everyone like pulling off the mascara but I don’t mind since it’s so incredible otherwise). And it doesn’t irritate or make my eyes water. Big Love !!! I also use Sensai 38’c Silk Performance regularly.
So that’s that. I’m always looking forward to new and improved products and discovering some hidden gems of a beauty products or brands. We shall see what 2015 has to offer but I for sure will be trying out more dry oils. ;)p
